Debbie Hones
The firm’s paralegal, Debbie Hones, received her degree in paralegal studies in 1994, a bachelor degree in Accounting with a minor in Forensic Accounting in 2017, and an associate degree in Theology in 1984. She has also studied Private Investigating and was selected as an Outstanding Young Woman of America in 1986.
Debbie began her career as a paralegal at a plaintiffs’ personal injury law firm in 1990. She began working with Jay Gervasi then and has been with him ever since, with the exception of a few years. When Jay opened his own practice in February 2000, she went to work for him as his paralegal, office manager and bookkeeper. Debbie received her certification as a board-certified paralegal as soon as certification became available in 2005. She received her certification as a Certified Fraud Examiner in 2017. She has been a member of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice (Workers’ Compensation and Legal Assistants Sections) since 1997. She has been a member of the North Carolina Bar Association (Workers’ Compensation, Legal Assistants, and Privacy and Data Security Sections) since 2004.
